Screening
An editor reads every submission within about five working days and decides whether it belongs in review. A decision not to proceed comes with reasons, not silence.
Matched reviewers
We invite 5 to 10 specialists whose declared expertise matches your subject areas, and we honour your exclusion list without asking why.
Deadlines that hold
Reviewers accept with a 21-day clock. We chase them, not you, and you can see how many reports are in at any moment.
Publication
Accepted work is issued an ISBN, published, and archived in perpetuity with a permanent, citable identifier.

We take original research, systematic reviews, methods papers, short reports, case studies and invited perspectives across the natural, medical, computational and social sciences. What we look for is work that is sound, honest about its limits, and useful to someone.
The most common reason a manuscript does not proceed is a mismatch between the abstract and the results. That is usually fixed by a narrower claim rather than more experiments.
What we will not publish
- Work under consideration elsewhere.
- Undisclosed competing interests.
- Research without required ethics approval.
- Claims the data cannot support.

Before you submit
- What does it cost to submit?
- Nothing. No submission fee, no article processing charge, no colour charges and no page charges.
- How quickly will I hear back?
- An editor screens every submission within about five working days. If it proceeds, reviewers are invited immediately and given a firm deadline.
- Can I exclude a reviewer?
- Yes, and you do not have to give a reason. Excluded addresses are blocked from invitation automatically.
- Who owns the copyright?
- You do. You choose the licence at publication, from CC BY through to the Pensul standard licence.
- Will I get the reviewer reports?
- Every report, in full, at the moment the decision is recorded. Confidential comments addressed to the editor are the only thing withheld.
- Can I revise and resubmit?
- Yes. A revision goes back to the same reviewers wherever they are available, along with your point-by-point response.
